Taylor will be interesting consideration

With Fred Taylor’s visit today now official, the first thing that might concern people is the fact that he’ s 33, but the guy takes remarkable care of himself from those I’ve spoken with. That’s why at age 31 the guy ran for over 1,200 yards and made the Pro Bowl. What I find interesting is [...]

Vikes trying to re-sign Birk

This is the part of free agency that has to frustrate teams looking to fill needs. Minnesota FA C Matt Birk is one of the best veteran options out there at the center position, but whether he gets to the market on Friday is tough to determine. Birk and the Vikings are to begin discussions [...]

QB Frerotte could be available

With the report out that a trade is imminent between Houston and Minnesota, which would ship QB Sage Rosenfels to the Vikings, one would have to think that Gus Frerotte could be released. Frerotte would be a good fit as a veteran backup in Buffalo. Two members of Buffalo’s organization said at the NFL Combine [...]

Some LB 40 times

Here are some 40 times of some notable LBs in the draft. Aaron Curry ran an impressive time of 4.54. USC’s Brian Cushing ran a 4.64 (unofficial). His teammate Clay Matthews ran a strong 4.59 and their other teammate Kaluka Maiava ran a 4.78. Maualuga as we mentioned in a previous post ran an unofficial [...]

Maualuga pulls up after first 40

USC LB Rey Maualuga pulled up right at the end of his first 40 run. He grabbed his right hamstring, went down to the ground slowly for a minute and then got back to his feet and was limping badly. He finished the run, but right as he geared down, he grabbe for it. He [...]

D-line 40 times

Here is a sampling of some initial 40 times posted by some of the more notable defensive linemen at the Combine this morning. These times are unofficial. DT B.J. Raji – Boston College – 5.13 DE Robert Ayers – Tennessee – 4.8 DE Connor Barwin – Cincinnait – 4.56 DE Paul Kruger – Utah – [...]

DL and LBs up next at combine

The defensive linemen and linebackers are up next for workouts at the NFL Combine in Indy. We’ll try to keep you posted on how players fare throughout the day right here. Among the prospects expected to test very well include Everette Brown, Aaron Maybin and Georgia Tech’s Michael Johnson. Among the notable top prospects not [...]

Top 10 WR 40 times

Sorry for the delay, but I was traveling back to Buffalo from the combine last night. For those that missed it here are the top 10 40-times for the wide receiver group. Darrius Heyward-Bay – Maryland - 4.30 Mike Wallace – Ole Miss – 4.33 Johnny Knox – Abilene Christian – 4.34 Jeremy Maclin – Missouri [...]

End of the line for Milloy?

With former Bills safety Lawyer Milloy released by Atlanta over the weekend you have to wonder if his career has come to a close at age 35. Milloy who is a Tacoma, Washington native wants to end his career in Seattle with the Seahawks if they’ll have him according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In the playoff [...]

Sanchez on my plane

Heading home from the Combine in Indy early this evening, I noticed USC QB Mark Sanchez was on my connecting flight to Chicago. He’s got a connection back to L.A. I just feel good that I’ve got a better seat than that guy. The future millionaire is in the back of the plane and I’m [...]

RB Moreno hurt by 40 times

Georgia RB Knowshon Moreno needed to run a solid 40 time to convince the doubters that he has breakaway speed. He didn’t. Moreno ran a 4.58 and a 4.63 in his two runs. He was visibly disappointed after running them. It shouldn’t drop him on boards too much, but it certainly doesn’t help his cause.

DE Ayers will also work out as a LB

Despite being 6’3 1/8″ and 272 pounds Tennessee DE Robert Ayers is going to work out as both a defensive lineman and linebacker during workouts here at the NFL Combine. “From my understanding I’m going to be doing some 3-4 linebacker stuff and some position drills with the defensive linemen,” said Ayers. “A lot of [...]

Everette Brown declares himself best pass rusher

Bills VP of College Scouting Tom Modrak told us yesterday that Florida State DE Everette Brown was a sub 6’2″ end and Brown confirmed it Sunday announcing that he measured at 6’1 7/8″ and 256 pounds. The amazing thing is how lean Brown looked despite being that height and 256 pounds. His body type compared [...]

QB 40 times

USC QB Mark Sanchez ran a 4.88 40-time, while Georgia’s Matt Stafford ran a 4.84. W. Virginia QB Pat White ran a 4.5 which will help his stock since some NFL teams are looking at him as a receiver prospect.

Kevin Ellison doing everything except vertical

Keith Ellison’s younger brother Kevin, the safety from USC, just stepped to the podium here at the combine. He said he’s doing almost everything for the workout. “I’m running the 40 and working out,”  Ellison said. ”I’ll be doing everything except the jumping. I’m just hoping to do my best, put my best foot forward and [...]

Crabtree to run his 40 today

In a complete reversal of fortune Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree made a brief statement in which he said he would run his 40 at the wide receiver group workout here at the combine today. “I’m coming here today regarding my injury report. It’s an old injury I’ve been having,” said Crabtree. ”I’ve never had any [...]

New offer for Greer?

According to ESPN AFC East blogger Tim Graham, the Bills have submitted a new offer to Jabari Greer in an effort to re-sign him before free agency opens next Friday. I’ve heard that the Greer camp is looking for between $7-9M a year. Be interesting to see where this leads.

Moving Poz outside only an option

Just finished talking with Bills defensive coordinator Perry Fewell here at the combine and he was asked about whether he’d be open to moving Paul Posluszny outside if the right MLB talent was available either in free agency or the draft. Here was his response. “That’s a question we’ve asked ourselves,” said Fewell. “I’m very comfortable with [...]

Modrak still sees upside in McCargo

Bills VP of College Scouting Tom Modrak believes there’s still potential for  John McCargo to realize. Suffering from bad luck with injuries and not exactly meshing with former defensive line coach Bill Kollar, 2009 could be a fresh start for the former first-round pick. Modrak thinks he still has upside. “He still has the physical talent,” he said. ”It’s not [...]
