Good picks for Bills in NFP 3 round mock

In the latest mock draft from the National Football Post, I like the picks they’ve got marked down for the Bills. However, I’m not confident their third round selection will still be on the board. In round one they have Buffalo taking the still rising Robert Ayers, who reportedly has impressed in interviews as much [...]

Rutkowski’s new car Saban story

In relaying some of his most enjoyable memories of Lou Saban, Bills former receiver and special teamer Ed Rutkowski recalled one particular Thanksgiving spent at Saban’s house that left Rutkowski a bit shaken. Rutkowski and Booker Edgerson were invited over to their head coach’s house for Thanksgiving. Saban invited them knowing they were single with [...]

Edgerson perhaps closest to Saban

If there was one Bills player that was closest with the recently passed Lou Saban it was Booker Edgerson. Edgerson knew Saban since he himself was an 18-year old collegian at Western Illinois. Saban coached him in college before later signing him to the Bills as an undrafted free agent with Buffalo in 1962. “He [...]

Just wanted to let everyone know that every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings until the draft be sure to go to the media lounge of Buffalobills.com for a position by position preview of the top prospects in this spring’s draft class. We’ll run down the top 5 at each position with comment and highlights from [...]

Steelers matchup best of preseason bunch

Facing the Steelers in Week 3 of the 2009 preseason will be the best measuring stick for the Bills team on their entire preseason slate. Going against the defending Super Bowl champs will give the Bills a good idea of where they stand heading into the fall. While some might think there won’t be much [...]

Cutler to be moved by draft day?

It’s total speculation, but the Denver Post thinks it’s possible that the Broncos could move Jay Cutler by draft weekend. I believe they’ll move heaven and earth to keep him. Besides there’s no urgency to trade the guy knowing his value really isn’t going to change before or after the draft. Even if another NFL [...]

Taylor open to sign anywhere?

Free agent DE Jason Taylor, who apparently would like to play for the Patriots first and foremost, is reportedly open to the right offer just about anywhere. That according to the Palm BeachPost. The report indicates that Taylor would even entertain a return to the Dolphins, though I would think that’s unlikely in light of [...]

T.O.’s Toronto visit

Terrell Owens was in Toronto over the weekend and took in a Raptors game. He was also in Buffalo on personal business. I haven’t been able to confirm it, but logic would say he was in Western New York looking for housing for the upcoming season. I’ll try to get an update if possible.

Saimes to be part of HOF draft weekend festivities

Bills Wall of Famer George Saimes will be joining former Rams great Jack Youngblood at the Pro Football HOF in Canton for their draft weekend tailgate party. Tickets can be purchased to be part of the event which includes a self guided tour of the Pro Football HOF at the Hall’s website for $40. The [...]

UCONN CB Butler is McGahee’s cousin

UCONN CB Darius Butler, who is making a case to be a late first round pick after a 4.38 at his pro day, is Willis McGahee’s cousin. When we talked to him at the combine, Butler spoke about his relationship with the former Bills back. “I would say once a week I talk to him,” [...]

Fan Friday 3-27

Less than a month until the NFL draft. Trying like heck to keep up with your questions. Bear with me. I’ll try to get them all answered before draft weekend. For those that don’t know questions can be sent to AskChris@bills.nfl.net. Here we go. 1. Hi Chris, the Bills coaching/personnel staff seem to be saying [...]

Jason Taylor being recruited by Pats?

Patriots owner Robert Kraft was asked for his thoughts on free agent DE Jason Taylor out at the league meetings this week. His answer? “Great player,” Kraft told Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports. “I’m sure that can happen if he wants it.” The Patriots are apparently Taylor’s top choice. Taylor experienced his best success in [...]

Chiefs Pro Bowl G Waters not being shopped

In addition to refuting rumors that Tony Gonzalez asked to be traded, Kansas City GM Scott Pioli also stated firmly that Pro Bowl G Brian Waters would not be moved off their roster either. There had been some speculation that Waters, who is unhappy in KC might be traded under the new front office regime. [...]

Pack signs Preston

Bills free agent center Duke Preston is now a Green Bay Packer. After making free agent visits with the Raiders and Packers, Preston decided to play in the NFC North. That according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The Packers were looking to bulk up a bit in the pivot and add some athleticism according to Green [...]

Very interesting mock draft

One of the more interesting mock drafts that I’ve come across of late was the one put together by Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post. He’s got the Bills trading with the Jets in round one. The Jets move up to 11 to grab QB Josh Freeman (Kansas St.) who is zooming up draft [...]

Is Orakpo criticism a smoke screen?

While NFL.com’s Gil Brandt described Brian Orakpo’s pro day workout with positives galore there are doubters out there about the Texas DE. That according to Pro Football Talk, which quoted one league source who described Orakpo’s workout as “brutal.” The question is how much of the negative talk is a smokescreen and how much of [...]

Chiefs to give Bills the home game?

It’s a story that may be getting blown out of proportion, but reports out of Kansas City indicate that if construction workers, that are doing major renovations on Arrowhead stadium, go on strike at the end of March when their contract is up, the stadium will not be ready in time to host Chiefs home [...]

T.O.’s award acceptance speech

Knowing coverage of the Alzheimer’s Association banquet in which Terrell Owens was to be the recipient of the Young Champions award Wednesday night in D.C. for his tireless efforts in the fight against Alzheimer’s was going to be limited, here is the Buffalo wide receiver’s acceptance speech from this evening. Congrats T.O. I’m extremely honored [...]

17 or 18 game regular season by 2011?

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell floated his idea for a 17 or 18 game regular season at the league meetings in California. Goodell is hopeful that a proposal can be put before the owners in May for a vote. This would obviously mean the end to four preseason games, which Goodell feels is unnecessary. “It’s possible that we [...]

NFL draft order to change in 2010

Looks like the NFL owners were very much in favor of changing the draft order at the bottom of the first round and subsequent rounds thereafter. At the league meetings they voted to reseed playoffs teams in the draft order based on when they exited the playoffs. So the Super Bowl participants will be the [...]
