Yes, there was a Q&A during Thurman Thomas’ speech at a fund raising event in Corning, New York over the weekend. And yes, Thomas was asked what team he can’t stomach the most. But more than 15 minutes into his address and question and answer session, his comments had taken on a comedic and humorous tone.
The crowd was laughing out loud at several of Thomas’ quick-witted responses through the course of the Q&A, so when Thomas was asked what team is the most difficult for him to watch, his response in an effort to get more laughs from the crowd on hand was the Buffalo Bills.
“I didn’t think anything of it,” said Thomas. “When I gave my answer it was quickly after his question and I said it in a funny way. In no way did I think about it and provide a serious answer. I said it in a laughing manner.”
Now Thomas followed up his humorous comment with another where he made sure people understood he was joking.
“Right after I said that, I also said that I support this team,” said Thomas. “From the reaction of the crowd I felt they understood I was joking with my first comment.”
Thomas also went on to say he feels the team needs better players to get them over the hump and into the playoffs, something Thomas had said during the course of the season on his weekly Bills Television Network show that airs in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Erie, PA during the regular season.
“They do need some better players and that’s nothing different than what I had said during the 2008 season,” said Thomas. “They need some players that people look up to and respect. I even said that on my TV show.”
Thomas said he has faith that the team, with the right acquisitions and a strong draft can get things turned around.
