Heyward-Bey over Crabtree?!!

Only Al Davis would value speed over playmaking ability. What a terrible pick. Heyward-Bey is a one trick pony. I would have taken Crabtree or Maclin over this guy.

Jets didn’t give up the farm

I know Mark Sanchez is just one player, but I’ve got to give the Jets credit for this deal. Giving up their first two picks and three reserve players in Kenyon Coleman, Brett Ratliff and Abram Elam was not a ton to get a franchise QB. Heck of a move.

Oh well, a pipe dream for Curry after all

Curry to the Seahawks. Thought when they re-signed Leroy Hill, for big money, they wouldn’t spend top five pick money on another.

Curry gets past Chiefs

Call it a pipe dream, but Aaron Curry got past the Chiefs at three with KC taking Tyson Jackson. Cleveland and Jacksonville are the top two potential places he could get scooped up. If not could he get to the Bills at 11? Dare to dream.

90′s Bills dominate 50th all-time team

The Bills 50th all-time team was announced Saturday and to no one’s surprise the 90′s Super Bowl Bills dominated the roster. 15 of the 25 players selected by the fans in an online poll for the 50th All-Time Team played for Buffalo during the Super Bowl era. Here’s the run down.   The head coach [...]

Whitner likes Orakpo and Laurinaitis

Bills safety Donte Whitner just tweeted that he likes Brian Orakpo from Texas and LB James Laurinaitis. Not surprised to see Donte taking up for a fellow Buckeye. As for Orakpo, Whitner says according to Mike Tomlin every great secondary starts with a great defensive line. We’ll see what happens when Buffalo is on the clock.

Brandon says talks with NFL teams has been “steady”

In an exclusive interview with Buffalobills.com just an hour before the draft gets underway, Bills COO/GM Russ Brandon talked about the mood in the draft room, how much they’ve whittled down their options for their 11th pick and described the level of discussion with other NFL teams. Brandon termed the level of discussion with other [...]

Will Eagles up ante for Scheffler?

The Eagles asked the Broncos what it would take to get Tony Scheffler, and they said it would require a first-round pick. Philly apparently balked, but Scheffler is better than Brandon Pettigrew, especially if you want to win right now. So the question is will Philly cough up pick 21, or a 1st in 2010 to [...]

Redskins sign Mike Williams

Well it only takes one team to be interested and Mike Williams convinced the Redskins he was worth signing as he attempts a comeback. Be interesting to see how things pan out. He’s 29 and claims he has a “new love” for the game. We’ll see.

Fan Friday 4-24

On the eve of the draft we dispel some rumors and answer some final questions. If you had a question that did not get answered here, be sure to check the live chat we held at noon earlier today (Friday). 1. Chris, will the Bills make any overtures for Peppers??? Or would this be too [...]

Sleeper DE/OLB prospect

There are lots of sleeper picks that only the NFL scouts are aware of along with fans of the college team for which they play. One that I found interesting that a Bills fan alerted me too, plays at Michigan State. Brandon Long who is a DE/OLB prospect opened some eyes at the Spartans pro day [...]

Bills OTA dates released

The dates for the Bills’ voluntary OTA practices this spring were released by the league. Buffalo as an entire roster will get things up and running in mid-May. The first set of OTAs will take place May 18th-20th. Then there will be a four-day session from May 26th-29th. That’s followed by a June 2nd-5th set [...]

Jets could make move for QB Campbell

If Redskins owner Dan Snyder makes the moves necessary to land USC QB Mark Sanchez, the Jets may make the next move and take Washington’s cast off signal caller off their hands. According to the Washington Times, the Jets have expressed interest in acquiring Campbell as they look to secure a more talented or more [...]

Gonzo trade to Falcons could make Pettigrew slip

If you’re assuming that Pettigrew would make it past the Eagles at 21 (if Philly takes Moreno) don’t go crazy thinking that the Oklahoma State TE will make it down to the Bills at 28 just because the Falcons got their tight end in Tony Gonzalez via trade. I think there’s a distinct possibility that [...]

Live pre-draft chat Friday

Since there’s almost no way I’m going to be able to answer the 500 plus emails in my inbox before the draft, we at Buffalobills.com have decided to do a live chat Friday at noon, where I’ll try to answer the most pressing draft related questions. Here’s how you can get to the live chat [...]

Bills 28th pick history

I took a look back at how many times the Bills have held and made use of the 28th pick on draft day in their history. Surprisingly, they’ve only had that selection twice. In 1981 they took Penn State RB Booker Moore. Moore, who shortly after the draft was diagnosed with Guillain Barre’ syndrome played [...]

A Mike Williams comeback?

All I can say is wow. I never in a million years thought that Bills former number one pick Mike Williams would ever be seen in the NFL again, but he apparently is trying to make a comeback. In an interview with the Dallas Morning News Williams maintains that he has a “new love for [...]

Bills: Cushing capable of a lot of things

With Buffalo’s scouting staff kind enough to take part of their lunch break to make themselves available to the media this week, just days before the draft I asked Bills scout Rashaan Curry if he thinks USC LB Brian Cushing could help a team as a pass rusher as well, seeing that he played some [...]
