Bills tight end Derek Fine missed practice on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. Bills quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt will be on the Pittsburgh airwaves later today. Van Pelt will appear on the Joe Bendel show on Fox Sports Radio 970 AM in the Steel City.
Owens finished for the day
Terrell Owens day of practice is over. The veteran wideout in his return from a sprained toe participated only in individual positions drills. He also ran a handful of routes and caught passes from the QBs. Owens didn’t appear to be full speed. Dick Jauron has already ruled Owens out for Saturday’s preseason game.
Owens practicing with teammates
Terrell Owens just stepped out on the practice field and is doing individual position drills with his teammates. We’ll have an update later.
Jackson not practicing
RB Fred Jackson is not practicing. We’ll have an update as to whether that affects his chances of playing Saturday after practice. Also not practicing is Derek Fine, Demetirus Bell, Travis McCall, Lydell Sargeant, Aaron Schobel and Drayton Florence.

Jackson x-rays negative confirmed
Fred Jackson confirmed that x-rays were negative on his wrist and thumb. And he also addressed his availability for the opener. Jackson is confident he’ll be ready for the week 1 game at New England. Fred Jackson and Terrell Owens are not practicing here on Wednesday. Neither is Demetrius Bell, Drayton Florence, Aaron Schobel, Felton Huggins, Travis McCall and Lydell Sargeant.
Two linebackers return

QB Craig Nall finds a home
Bills former reserve QB Craig Nall has found a team in the UFL. Nall signed with the UFL’s Florida Tuskers along with 11 other players, most of whom have NFL experience. Nall now makes two former Bills quarterbacks playing in the UFL. J.P. Losman is the starting QB for the Las Vegas Locomotives.

Fred Jackson has left the practice field early after suffering an injury on a run play. Jackson was holding his left hand on the way off the field. We’ll have an update after practice.
Owens taking mental reps
Terrell Owens has finished his rehab drills, but he’s staying at practice to get some mental reps. Owens is listening to the play call five yards behind the line and is lining up like he’s going to execute his assignment.
Owens emerges
Terrell Owens has just stepped out onto the practice field. He’s begun some rehab footwork drills with the athletic training staff. He working his way thru a rope ladder that’s laying on thr ground. He appears to be moving well, but he’s not full speed.
