Byrd a Rookie of the Week finalist again

Alright Bills fans he lost to Green Bay’s Clay Matthews last week, here’s a second chance to get Jairus Byrd named the NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Week. Voting is now open, and will remain open until Friday at noon, so start clicking Bills fans. This guy is one of the main reasons the season is [...]

A rare Byrd

To put in perspective just what Bills rookie FS Jairus Byrd has done in the month of October consider these figures courtesy of the Elias Sports Bureau. The last time a rookie had 5 or more interceptions in a calendar month was December of 1990 when Chicago safety Mark Carrier did it for the Bears. The last time [...]

Texans Johnson injury update

Houston WR Andre Johnson’s chest contusion is a bit more internal than it sounds. Head coach Gary Kubiak called it a “lung contusion” and is hopeful that Johnson will be able to play Sunday at Buffalo. A lung contusion would explain why he was coughing up blood after taking a big hit in Houston’s Sunday [...]

Lindell moves up Bills points chart

Rian Lindell had eight points in Sunday’s win over Carolina moving him into some exclusive territory on the Bills all-time scoring list. The Bills kicker now has 674 points in a Bills uniform putting him in sole possession of second place on the team’s all-time list behind all-time leading scorer Steve Christie (1,011). Lindell moved [...]

Jauron earns MMQB honor

Bills head coach Dick Jauron was honored by SI.com writer Peter King in his Monday Morning QB column. Jauron was named his Coach of the Week after Buffalo’s 20-9 win over Carolina Sunday. Here’s what King wrote Coach of the Week Dick Jauron, head coach, Buffalo Meaningless games beckoned earlier this month, with sprouting billboards [...]

Bills takeaways among league’s best

A short two weeks ago the Bills were 30th in takeaway-giveaway ratio at minus-6. They’re considerably better now. Buffalo now ranks 12th at a plus-2 thanks to their 10 takeaways the past two weeks. The defense is responsible for eight of them, all via the interception, while special teams has an INT and a fumble [...]

Why McGee returned last kick

Terrence McGee’s appearance on kick return at the end of Buffalo’s win over Carolina got a healthy number of Bills fans excited, seeing the former Pro Bowl return man back there. But head coach Dick Jauron had a specific reason as to why McGee was back deep for Buffalo. “Terrence was out there because the [...]

Just a reminder for fans that it’s that time of the week to submit your questions to Marcus Stroud for Marcus’ Mailbag. Just got to AskMarcus@bills.nfl.net to submit a question and see if your question appears on his weekly program ‘Marcus’ Mailbag, which airs every Tuesday on Buffalobills.com. You can ask him about his bye [...]

Injury update

There are a handful of other players that are getting closer to returning to the lineup as they come off injury. Dick Jauron updated the status of some of those players Monday. “Jonathan Scott and Bryan Scott both worked out already (Monday) and are looking a little better,” said Jauron. “That’s kind of day-to-day. Donte [...]

Kyle Williams update

Bills DT Kyle Williams suffered a knee injury Sunday. Dick Jauron provided an update Monday. Sort of. Williams and FB Corey McIntyre were both being re-evaluated as Jauron addressed the media so he had no additional information on their injuries at the time. Williams has been one of Buffalo’s most valuable defenders thus far this [...]

Andre Johnson status for Sunday

For those that missed it Texans WR Andre Johnson was briefly hospitalized Sunday for a chest contusion that had him coughing up blood. According to the Houston Chronicle however, he should be fine to play this Sunday. Terrence McGee also had a chest contusion coming out of last week’s game and played this past Sunday. [...]

Byrd was Buffalo’s leading rusher

Just thought this number from Sunday’s game was worth passing along. Byrd’s two interceptions were one thing, but his return yardage on both of them is what was most instrumental to the victory. He had 67 return yards setting the offense up on the Carolina 7 and the Carolina 27-yard lines for drive starts. His [...]

Jauron presser early today

So be sure to log on to Buffalobills.com for live coverage. Jauron gave the players the day off today after the win Sunday.

Byrd matches other Byrd

Bills rookie FS Jairus Byrd matched a Bills Wall of Famer and 50th All-Time Team member of the same last name with an interception feat thanks to his two picks Sunday. Byrd is the third Bills rookie to post an interception in three consecutive games.  He’s the first to achieve the feat since Butch Byrd [...]

Kyle Williams concern

The knee injury that forced Kyle Williams from the game early on Sunday has created cause for concern. “That one hurt us,” said head coach Dick Jauron. ”That’s a knee and of course we’ll know more (Monday). The fact that he didn’t return is not good.” Williams was already dealing with a serious shoulder injury that [...]

Fitzpatrick keeps it simple

In an era where football can be turned into an exercise where coaches sometimes look more like they’re splitting the atom, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick chooses to keep it simple at some of the most crucial times of a football game. Up 7-2 and facing a 2nd-and-goal situation at the two-yard line, Fitzpatrick basically tells Lee [...]

Chris Draft starts

LB Chris Draft started at the SLB position for the Bills with Keith Ellison flipping over to the weak side.

Bills won toss

They elected to defer as is usually the case. We’ll have the live blog up shortly.

Panthers missing top tackler

The Carolina Panthers will be without their leading tackler today. OLB Thomas Davis is inactive for today’s game with a hamstring injury. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Landon Johnson.
