Byrd seeing specialist today

Bills rookie phenom FS Jairus Byrd is seeing a specialist today regarding the injury that required sports-hernia surgery this summer.

“Jairus is in Philadelphia today and he’s just seeing a specialist for the type of injury he sustained that kept him out of camp,” said head coach Dick Jauron. “This was planned before the game that he was going to take this day and go down there and see this doctor. That’s where he is and we’ll know more about it when he gets back. I don’t want to hex him, but hopefully it’ll turn up fine.”

Jauron said this was not related to the groin injury he sustained in Sunday’s game and did not say if the groin injury made the condition he was dealing with worse. This appointment with the specialist was planned as more of a checkup visit.

“It was planned, yes absolutely because it hadn’t kept him off the field and it hadn’t really kept him out of practice, but it’s been bothering him a little bit and he didn’t feel 100 percent,” said Jauron. “And nobody in the league probably does this time of the year, but in light of the situation we thought it was in everybody’s best interest to get him down there.”

Whether the doctor links his current groin injury to the discomfort he was feeling post-surgery remains to be seen.
