Bills safety Jairus Byrd was one of five finalists for the Pepsi Rookie of the Year award, but Minnesota WR Percy Harvin was announced as the winner of the award in Miami at the site of the Super Bowl Thursday.
The NFL does not publicize the voting results, though they did report that over 1.5 million votes were cast by fans on NFL.com.
Harvin did have a heck of a season with 2,081 all-purpose yards for the Vikings, which was good for 2nd best in the NFC.
Byrd finished second in the AP NFL Defensive rookie of the year voting last month.
