Harris clears waivers

LB Nic Harris, who was waived after failing a physical has cleared waivers. Harris is now a free agent since his contract was terminated by the Bills.

Stroud out early

Marcus Stroud has left practice early. Stroud was having a strong practice, particularly in 1-on-1 pass rush drills, but may have gotten overheated. He was taken to the cooling tent and a short time later left for the locker room under his own power.

Another LB watching

The linebacker position has been snake bit early here in camp. Poz, Keith Ellison and Chris Kelsay have been the most recent spectators at practice. Saturday afternoon one more was added to the list. Kawika Mitchell is not participating in practice this afternoon. Mitchell was limited in the spring workouts, but has largely appeared full [...]

Pick behind Spiller close to signing

Reports out of Jacksonville say 10th overall pick Tyson Alualu is close to an agreement with the Jaguars. That according to the Florida Times-Union, as they report a deal could be struck before the weekend is out. Should Alualu actually sign it would mean the pick right before Spiller (Rolando McClain) and after (Alualu) would [...]

Could Mathews talks spark Spiller?

Reports out of San Diego indicate that talks between the Chargers and 12th overall pick and RB Ryan Mathews are progressing well and a deal could be done before the weekend is out. Could it help move Spiller’s camp along in getting a deal done with the Bills? According to the  San Diego Union-Tribune, talks [...]

Catching up with Troup

Lost in all the QB pecking order talk and the Friday morning scuffle was the fact that Torell Troup got to camp just hours before the deadline to report after signing his deal at midnight Wednesday into Thursday. Troup is still trying to catch up on some sleep. “I got here around two o’clock in [...]

Gailey on Friday’s scuffle

Bills head coach Chan Gailey was asked for his take on the scuffle at the morning practice Friday when he addressed the media Friday night, and if he addressed it as an issue with his team in meetings. “No, I didn’t talk about it,” he said. ”That’s part of football. If you’ve got passion about the [...]

Night practice notes up

In case anyone is looking our night practice notes have been added to the bottom of the Practice Notes - Day 2 write up from today.

Johnson update

Spencer Johnson left practice early after tweaking what appeared to be a leg muscle. Head coach Chan Gailey provided a brief update after practice.  “He’s sustained a little bit of an injury and again you hope it’s one of those few days, week at the most type injuries, that’s what you hope,” said Gailey. Johnson has [...]

Johnson leaves early

Spencer Johnson just walked to the locker room. He appeared to tweak something during one-on-one drills between offensive and defensive linemen. We’ll have an update if one is made available.

Bell gets night off

After practicing this morning it looks like the night practice will be the one that Demetrius Bell sits out. Bell is not in pads like the rest of the squad. Chan Gailey has said that Bell would be eased in and wasn’t expected to practice twice a day coming off a lengthy rehab.

Stroud back

Marcus Stroud is back padded up for the night practice, after not participating in the morning session. Not practicing are Keith Ellison, Chris Kelsay and Poz. Newly signed LB Donovan Woods is dressed for practice. We’ll see what his level of participation is tonight.

Jersey number for Woods

LB Donovan Woods will be wearing jersey number 50.

What can happen with Harris

With LB Nic Harris getting waived/failed physical the Bills have two options as to what to do with him should he clear waivers. They can either place him on Reserve/PUP or terminate his contract. The bottom line is this new staff is not beholden to Harris because he wasn’t one of their draft picks. In [...]

Another pick close to Spiller signs

Another first-round pick in close proximity to C.J. Spiller has agreed to terms in an afternoon flurry of first-round signings. San Francisco first-round pick Anthony Davis agreed to a contract today for five years and $26.5 M with almost $16M guaranteed. Davis was the 11th overall pick, just two spots after Spiller. One potential problem is [...]

Hardy ready to perform

He’s been through a lot in terms of injury setbacks the last year or so, but James Hardy is healthy and off to a good start at training camp. “We have an offensive-minded coach,” said Hardy. ”We’ve never had that since I’ve been here. He likes to get the ball down the field. He likes big [...]

O-line identity explained

Training camp is where teams establish their identity, especially in year one under a new head coach, as is the case with the Bills. Bills center Geoff Hangartner provided a glimpse of that identity in the morning with his scrap with Aaron Maybin after the linebacker knocked the team’s leading rusher off his feet at [...]

Hangartner protects

Geoff Hangartner summed up his scrap with Maybin quite simply. “You don’t hit our 1,000-yard rusher in the back when he’s not looking,” said Hangartner. Maybin said he wasn’t surprised that the situation escalated. “There’s never a dull moment and you knew sooner or later something was going to happen,” Maybin said. The Bills center [...]

1st scrap

During run game drills Aaron Maybin knocked Fred Jackson to the ground at the tail end of a run play and Geoff Hangartner took umbrage. The Bills center ran 15 yards across the field and grabbed Maybin throwing him to the ground and driving him backward. There’s some fire here this morning. Players screaming at [...]

New non-participant

Along with Paul Posluszny, Keith Ellison and Chris Kelsay there is another vet not practicing this morning. Marcus Stroud is not practicing at the morning workout. We’ll find out after practice if it is just a measure to pace the vet coming off of some injuries last season, much like they did in the spring [...]
