Tight ends help

The two healthy tight ends on Buffalo’s roster were working with a couple of other players on the roster with respect to blocking assignments in practice Sunday morning. With only Jonathan Stupar and Michael Matthews practicing for now, the coaching staff had fullbacks Rodney Ferguson and Corey McIntyre working on some blocking drills with the [...]

Morning practice update

With the entire morning practice taking place in the gym due to steady rain here at St. John Fisher, the speed of practice was at about half speed. The Bills worked on a lot of run game work, some special teams and red zone. They plan to practice in full pads tonight for the night [...]

WR Nelson back

Bills rookie WR David Nelson is back from his ankle injury. With the morning practice indoors, it’s difficult to ascertain how much he’ll be doing with the session going at a reduced speed. Barring any setbacks though Nelson is looking good to play in the team’s third preseason game Saturday.

Bills forced indoors

With a steady rain at Bills training camp since the early morning hours the Bills have been forced indoors due to insecure footing on the wet fields. The team is practicing in the gym. At this point the intention is for the team to practice outside tonight. Check Buffalobills.com later today for updates.

Spiller on the radio

Bills RB C.J. Spiller will be on the radio airwaves early Sunday afternoon. He’ll be appearing with Dan Moriarty and Derrick Deese on Fox Sports Radio @ 1:15 PM

Tight end could be added soon

With Shawn Nelson and Derek Schouman both injured, Buffalo has just two healthy tight ends on the roster in Jonathan Stupar and Michael Matthews. Head coach Chan Gailey indicated they’re probably going to add a tight end to the roster sooner rather than later. “Yeah, we’re checking out everything,” said Gailey. ”Buddy [Nix] is looking for [...]

Schouman, Torbor to miss time

Derek Schouman and Reggie Torbor are both going to miss an appreciable amount of time after both suffered injuries in Thursday’s preseason game. “Schouman is going to be out for a while,” said head coach Chan Gailey. “I don’t know how long, but it’s going to be a while. Guy can’t catch a break. It’s [...]

Lynch working on side

Marshawn Lynch is doing some running back drills with the training staff on the side at practice. Straight ahead he’s moving well, but on cutting, lateral movements he’s moving very carefully.

Reggie Torbor absent

Bills LB Reggie Torbor is not at practice this afternoon. Torbor did come out of Thursday night’s preseason game prior to the rest of the first team defense. No word on whether he sustained an injury.

Vets watching

A couple of veterans are watching practice here this afternoon on the heels of Thursday night’s preseason game. Kyle Williams and Andra Davis are presumably getting a veteran’s day off.

S. Nelson not practicing

Bills TE Shawn Nelson is in attendance at practice this afternoon, but he’s not practicing. Nelson’s league-imposed suspension does allow him to practice in the preseason, but he is not doing so. Nelson did not play in Thursday night’s preseason game. We hope to find out why from Chan Gailey following practice.

Fan Friday 8-20

Here’s the latest edition. On the heels of the preseason win over the Colts wanted to get to some of your most recent questions as well as some I’ve been meaning to get to. (AskChris@bills.nfl.net). 1 – Hey Chris, Wondering how Marcus Stroud is feeling about sliding to end this year? I hear that he [...]

Bills defenders settling in

Buffalo’s defenders are beginning to settle into their new 3-4 defense now with two preseason games under their belt. Veteran starters like Marcus Stroud already noticed a difference in their feel for the scheme from preseason game one to preseason game two. “A lot more comfortable,” said Stroud of how he felt in the 3-4 [...]

Bills host Youth Football forum

The Buffalo Bills hosted a USA Youth Football Leadership Forum at training camp this past week at St. John Fisher. As NFL teams move further into preseason and youth leagues get ready to start their schedules, youth football leaders were invited by USA Football and the Bills to watch an evening workout and discuss issues [...]

McGee feared the worst

Much like a punt returner fearing being caught from behind by the punter to prevent him from scoring a touchdown, a similar thought ran through Terrence McGee’s head after his interception in Thursday night’s win over Indianapolis. McGee returned a deflected Peyton Manning pass 78 yards for a touchdown, but he wasn’t so sure he [...]

Poz unhappy with debut

Paul Posluszny was far from satisfied with his performance Thursday night. Just three weeks removed from minor groin surgery, Poz gave it a go against the Colts seeing his first live action and admitted that personally his performance left something to be desired. “I definitely found out that I have a long way to go,” [...]

Evans on his TD play

Lee Evans 69-yard touchdown was the longest pass play of the night in Buffalo’s 34-21 win over Indianapolis. Here’s how he saw the scoring play. “It was just a play action play,” he said. ”They kind of bit up on Steve (Johnson) coming across and I was able to spring free and Trent (Edwards) just layed [...]

Colts coach on Spiller

Colts head coach Jim Caldwell was asked for his thoughts on Bills top pick C.J. Spiller after seeing him up close and personal. “Spiller is obviously a real fine back,” Caldwell said. ”He’s got quick feet, he’s got speed and had a little cut back run – made a couple guys miss on that play and [...]

Schouman injured

Bills TE Derek Schouman left the game Thursday night with another injury. Head coach Chan Gailey was uncertain after the game how long he’d be sidelined. “Derek Schouman has a knee injury and I don’t know how much we’ll miss him,” said Gailey. Schouman has been plagued by injuries the majority of his career. The tight [...]

O-line starters warming up

It’s looking good for the first unit offensive line to be fully intact tonight against the Colts. Demetrius Bell, Eric Wood and Cornell Green are all going through warm up plays with the rest of the starting unit. Defensively, Paul Poslusznzy, Paul Posluszny, Keith Ellison and Chris Kelsay are all suited up as well.
