After reviewing the game tape of Sunday’s home opener against the Dolphins, head coach Chan Gailey again pointed the finger at no one but himself.
Gailey, who said on Sunday he was not satisfied with his design of the run game for their opening game reiterated how it’s on him to provide a scheme that can be executed effectively by his players.
“We didn’t make the plays that we made in the preseason and that’s mostly my fault because I’ve got to get this thing where we can be on the same page and go in the same direction on a consistent basis,” said Gailey. “Right now I feel like we maybe tried to do too much this ball game. I may have had too much in there for them and we have to get back to basics.”
But Gailey assured that their offense will be different from that of last season.
“I look at our team as our team,” said Gailey. “I don’t compare it to other teams or what has happened before. I know what kind of young men we have on our football team. I know where we want to go and we have a plan to get there, and that’s all I can say. I told the players, ‘I don’t know if it’s going to take two games, five games, eight games. I don’t know how long it’s going to take, but we’re going to get there.”
