The most encouraging sign of the season concerning Buffalo’s offensive line came last Sunday when both Demetrius Bell and Eric Wood got through an entire game without being substituted for a series or two here and there. It was the first time that’s happened in the 2010 season after both came off major offseason leg surgeries. But does it mean from this point on they’re good to go?
Chan Gailey has his fingers crossed.
“I hope so. I can’t tell you that,” Gailey said. “We had the bye week, which gave them some rest and that really helped them. Now we’re back to going week after week. Can they hold up for six weeks, eight weeks? That’s yet to be determined.
“We’re going to have to look at it if that’s the scenario that can happen. I hope it does. We’re looking for that day when they can stay healthy and not have to be subbed and not have to sit out a Wednesday practice after a long game, things like that.”
Bell needed an extra day of rest for his knee this past Wednesday to be ready to go this Sunday after Buffalo’s offense logged 79 plays last weekend.
