Knowing he’ll only have eight games to make an impact, and just six days to prepare to play in a scheme that is brand new, Shawne Merriman is spending every waking second trying to get Buffalo’s defensive scheme embedded in his head.
After spending most of Saturday morning with teammates in meetings and watching game tape, Merriman traveled with teammates to Toronto.
Though he’ll be just a spectator from the sidelines, the linebacker is not wasting time on this trip. He’s acquired a portable video player from the video staff to review any and all game tape in his hotel room to more effectively familiarize himself with Buffalo’s scheme.
“I feel good. I’m excited,” he said. “I got a chance to spend a lot of time with the guys. I’ve been to a couple of meetings already. I’m just jamming the playbook as much as possible so I feel good.”
