With QB Shaun Hill recovering from a broken left forearm, there is a realistic chance that the Lions signal caller plays the whole game from the shotgun formation.
The jarring effect of having the ball snapped into your non-throwing hand may not be the best idea for Hill, and so it has been speculated that Hill will take all the snaps in Sunday’s game in the shotgun formation. The only other option would be to switch his hands and take the brunt of the snap impact with his throwing hand. Shotgun however, seems to be the most likely scenario.
Buffalobills.com asked Bills head coach Chan Gailey if that provides his defense with any kind of advantage if they go shotgun exclusively Sunday.
“You have to think pass obviously,” said Gailey. “But I’m sure they’ll have some run game set up for that whether it’s reverses, hand offs or draws. They’ve been a big draw/screen team anyway so that really is not anything new for them. But if they’re in the gun you just adjust on the move. We’ve seen it from them, but not for a lot of snaps. It’ll be interesting to see how our defense needs to adjust once we get to game time.”
