Terrell Owens was the weekly conference call interview for the Western New York media with the Bills slated to play at Cincinnati this Sunday. And T.O. is impressed with what Stevie Johnson has done with his opportunity opposite Lee Evans this season.
“I knew Stevie had the ability,” said Owens. “I watched him in training camp. Here’s a guy that’s very shifty, can make guys miss. He runs nice routes. Obviously, everybody’s seeing the results of that.
“Stevie (and I), we became good friends. We sat next to each other in the meeting rooms last year. We’ve been texting each other, at the beginning of the season, he would ask me certain things, about things he has questions about. So I got the chance to meet a lot of the guys there in the preseason. Got to talk Lee a little bit. Lee is quiet. We don’t really talk as much, but we’re still cool. Roscoe and all those guys, Marcus Stroud. It was good to see those guys in preseason. We knew this time was going to come during the regular season. It’s here it’ll be a good reunion. Once the coin in tossed and the ball is kicked off, everybody knows it’s business.”
Johnson ranks 12th in the AFC in receptions and 10th in receiving yards. Owens ranks 2nd in both of those categories in the conference. T.O.’s numbers also rank third in the NFL in both categories.
