The Comcast Sports report that the 49ers are interested in Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh for their head coaching position, could prompt Harbaugh’s current QB for the Cardinal to reconsider his NFL draft options.
The report, which indicates that 49ers VP of Player Personnel, Trent Baalke, will be named the new GM of the 49ers as early as Saturday, also says that the team is interested in Harbaugh as a head coaching candidate. Whether Harbaugh is interested is the big question.
If he is and lands the job, leaving Stanford behind, it will almost certainly impact Andrew Luck’s decision making process with respect to the 2011 NFL draft. Most reports at this point are indicating that Luck is leaning toward returning to Stanford for his senior season.
