CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco put together his mock draft 2.0 and has Buffalo taking a defensive end.
With Nick Fairley first off his board to Carolina and a surprising choice of Patrick Peterson for the Broncos (despite Denver’s re-signing of Champ Bailey), Prisco has Buffalo taking DE Da’Quan Bowers third overall.
Now I will say that in recent days when asked about Nick Fairley, Marcell Dareus and Da’Quan Bowers, Bills GM Buddy Nix said all three of them could fit in any scheme. Bowers is probably the biggest question mark in that area. At 275 pounds he’s a little light to play end in a 3-4 system weight-wise, though he’s supposed to be freakishly strong in his upper body and is thought by most to be capable of handling the point of attack in a 3-4 scheme. He had 22 reps on the bench in Indy.
Dropping back to an OLB position is also a consideration for him should he go to a 3-4 team, but there’s more of an unknown there.
