According to DraftInsiders.net, Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett will be performing a private workout for the Miami Dolphins.
Mallett has had one other known workout thus far in the pre-draft process with Carolina. Whether the Dolphins should stay committed to Chad Henne as their starting quarterback has been heavily debated in south Florida this offseason, and by the sounds of GM Jeff Ireland at the combine it was anything but a lead pipe lock.
“Well, right now our starter is Chad Henne,” Ireland said last month. “Obviously, he’s been a player that’s on our football team. We don’t have a lot of depth right now. It’s obviously a position that we’re going to look hard at. No doubt about it.”
If the Dolphins did take Mallett, it’d once again present a scenario in which Mallett could be succeeding Henne, which he did initially at Michigan before transferring when Rich Rodriguez brought in his spread offense as the Wolverines new head coach. Mallett is projected as a second round pick.
