Obviously the Bills did not take a quarterback in the 2011 NFL draft and from the way it sounds, after Cam Newton was off the board Buffalo was all but resigned to the fact that the position would not be addressed in this year’s draft.
“We said all along that we wanted to try to get a franchise guy that would be around 8 or 10 years and we just very quickly we didn’t feel very good about that,” said Bills GM Buddy Nix. “We thought we could help our team in a lot of other ways and so we didn’t do it. It was pretty quick.”
Nix did assure however, that another quarterback will be added to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2011.
“We’re going to get one,” he said. “Obviously we’re not going into the season with two quarterbacks. We’ll have another one.”
Currently Fitzpatrick and Levi Brown are the only two quarterbacks under contract. Nix said a fourth arm would likely be added as well for training camp.
