CB Williams will push to start

Bills 2nd round pick Aaron Williams, who is profiled in the media center of Buffalobills.com today (Tues.) is a guy that will push the veterans with NFL starting experience for a top spot in the secondary.

According to Bills GM Buddy Nix, Williams will push for one of the two starting cornerback jobs, and if he doesn’t land that he anticipates Williams stands a very good chance of being the team’s nickel corner.

“We’re going to put them out there and play the best two at corner, put the next guy in the slot in nickel,” said Nix with respect to the competition that will ensue at cornerback when players report. 

Nix also warned that fans should not dismiss the nickel corner spot as a reserve role with the throwing league the NFL has become.

“We’re in nickel and dime 65 percent of the time and people don’t realize when you play nickel back that they play most of the time,” he said.
