Dareus to DT in nickel?
Posted by on May 10, 2011 – 8:52 pmBills GM Buddy Nix shared some information about the 2011 draft class for Buffalo including where the players could be lining up come September. Most already know that top pick Marcell Dareus will start at defensive end in Buffalo’s 3-4 defense. But according to Nix he’ll be moved from that spot in the subpackages.
“Marcell is an exceptional athlete, he plays everywhere, he smart,” said Nix. ”He’ll be a defensive end in a 34 and play there on first and second down. In nickel he’ll play inside with Kyle Williams.”
So the plan going in, which is little surprise, is to have him kick inside to defensive tackle in the nickel package, when the Bills are likely to be in more of a four man look, with perhaps a stand up rusher outside.
