Faith in Merriman

Appearing at the Monday QB Club post-draft event Bills GM Buddy Nix covered a range of topics concerning the team including Shawne Merriman.

Nix was asked about the confidence he has that Merriman can be an impact player for the Bills in 2011.

“We know the answer,” said Nix. ”He has to get well. He’s ahead of where should be, and I know this… you can’t draft or find one like him. He’s 26, came out as junior. We got an outside backer if gets back to where he was.”

What’s encouraging to this point is all the feedback on Merriman’s rehab efforts to get back to his Pro Bowl form have been positive from the time the offseason began. Now to hear that he’s ahead of schedule makes the prospects this season even more promising.
