Bills still have opening

With the acquisition of Nick Barnett and being awarded DL Lionel Dotson off waivers, Buffalo can still add another player to their roster. The Bills are currently at 89 players and the offseason roster limit under the new CBA is 90. Buffalo released DL Jordan Topp, which still left one roster spot open. Is Buffalo [...]

Where Barnett will help most

The acquisition of Nick Barnett will help Buffalo’s defense in many different ways, but there’s one area where he can help to shore things up in a big way. Pass coverage by Buffalo’s linebackers last season was touch and go at times. Losing both Andra Davis and Reggie Torbor to season-ending shoulder injuries in 2010 [...]

Nix tried to draft Barnett

Bills GM Buddy Nix said a free agent market like the one the NFL is conducting this year would require patience. Who knew Nix had eight years worth of patience to land Nick Barnett. Bills LB Kelvin Sheppard pulled up at the end of a 1-on-1 passing drill where LBs go against RBs. He has stepped out of practice and was examined by athletic trainers. He’s staying at practice, but has not taken a rep since that play.

Easley a spectator

Bills head coach Chan Gailey didn’t think it was anything serious when Marcus Easley tweaked his left knee late in practice Saturdayn but it was enough to keep him from practicing Sunday night. Easley is watching tonight’s practice with a wrap on the left knee. We’ll try to get an update after practice.

Merriman a help with Barnett

Shawne Merriman talked about helping to recruit free agents to come play for Buffalo. Nick Barnett has played long enough in a 3-4 scheme like Buffalo’s to know if you don’t have a top flight pass rusher life is going to be tough. Knowing he’ll be looking to his right and seeing Merriman there was [...]

Barnett ready to tutor rooks

Nick Barnett is entering his ninth year in the league and much like 10-year vet Andra Davis he’s open to showing the rookies the ropes, especially now that he’s officially signed. That’s huge knowing Buffalo has second-year man Arthur Moats learning the ILB position along with a pair of draft choices in Kelvin Sheppard and [...]

Thigpen’s developers

Bills head coach Chan Gailey had to work with second-year QB Tyler Thigpen in Kansas City back in 2008 after losing Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard to injuries. Going into that season Thigpen had attempted all of six passes in the NFL. That’s why Gailey is confident that Thigpen now in his sixth NFL season should be [...]

One of my goals was to come out here and do everything,” he said. ”It’s going to take a lot of work, [...]
