With preparation time for the regular season the shortest it has ever been due to no spring workouts (OTAs, minicamp) NFL clubs will have to make adjustments to have their teams ready come September. But Bills head coach Chan Gailey does not intend to shrink the size of his team’s playbook.
“No, we won’t scale back the playbook,” said Gailey. “We’ll scale back the speed of installation.”
During the down time of the NFL lockout, Gailey and his staff structured a contingency plan as to the speed of playbook installation once all the spring workouts were lost. Knowing as many as 30-35 players will have little to no knowledge of Buffalo’s offensive and defensive schemes when they report to training camp, Buffalo’s coaching staff sounds prepared with a plan as to the best way to ensure that players absorb the necessary information respective to their position.
