Bills fourth-round pick Chris Hairston saw his first NFL action Saturday after missing the first two preseason games due to a nagging injury and got more work than he thought.
Hairston not only played right tackle with the second unit where he’s been lined up for most of the summer, but also saw time on the left side and performed well for a pro debut.
“It was a bit of a surprise to me,” said Hairston of playing some left tackle. “Coming into the game it wasn’t a sure rotation, I hadn’t worked a whole lot of left tackle during practice but I was ready when the time called. Whatever I needed to be I’m ready for, I’ve got to be.”
When asked about his overall performance, Hairston thought he did okay.
“I think I did alright,” he said. “I just wanted to come out, play with intensity, play fast and most of all not make any mental errors. I kept them to a minimum and I just wanted to play hard and I felt like I did that.”
