Bills CB Aaron Williams will see a lot of time like the rest of the rookies Thursday night, but he might spend some more time inside in some of the subpackages.
Williams, who has experience in the slot from his college days at Texas, is expected to get his fair share of snaps there Thursday night against the Lions in the preseason finale.
The second-round pick has spent most of his time as a boundary corner through this preseason and in training camp. No doubt the coaches want to see how he handles it to know if he’s an option there.
If he shows well it gives Buffalo two good run support corners that they can line up inside in Terrence McGee and Williams knowing how often teams utilize four wide sets these days. Sometimes teams run instead of pass when they see smaller slot corners, but that would not be the case if McGee or Williams were lined up there as both go at better than 200 pounds.
