The Bills will be fully prepared to face Kansas City’s best on Sunday in the season opener at Arrowhead, but the Chiefs’ starting quarterback might not be at his best Sunday, if he’s on the field at all.
According to multiple reports Cassel may not be able to play Sunday due to a rib injury suffered in the Chiefs’ preseason finale against Green Bay, after Packers DT Howard Green took him down and landed on top of him with his full body weight.
If Cassel cannot play, backup Tyler Palko, who has seen mop up duty in just two NFL regular season games, would start for Kansas City.
Palko faced the Bills once before in a preseason game in 2007 as a 3rd string QB for the Saints. He was 15-27 for 172 yards and a touchdown.
