Bills CB Terrence Wheatley is expected to be active Sunday at Cincinnati as the team will be without Terrence McGee and Aaron Williams, but what exactly will his workload be?
Head coach Chan Gailey and his staff have to balance the fact that Wheatley just arrived last week and is still getting up to speed with Buffalo’s scheme.
“We don’t want to give him a lot early on,” Gailey told Buffalobills.com. “We give him as much as we feel he can handle in our opinion. Players always think they can handle more than you give them. That’s just a given. He’ll be fine if we can get him some work and keep him in the system for a couple of weeks. He just got here the week before so he didn’t really know our terminology. So we’re trying to do a great job of catching him up.”
Wheatley is likely to have a role on special teams and will be pressed into duty at cornerback if there’s an injury or two knowing Cincinnati doesn’t use spread sets as often as some other clubs.
