Buffalo’s offense currently ranks third in the league in scoring at 31.3 points per game. And some of the top playmakers responsible for those figures would like to stick together beyond this season.
With all the talk about a forthcoming contract extension for Ryan Fitzpatrick this week, Buffalo’s other offensive playmakers are hoping it happens knowing it ensures stability and success for the offense. Once it’s complete it’s the hope of players like Stevie Johnson and Fred Jackson that their long term futures include Buffalo as well.
“When you think about it, it’s for the future,” said Johnson. “For the future you want to have a team. You don’t just want to have guys in the locker room and you don’t know what’s going to happen next year. You want to have a team together so hopefully they do get a contract done with Fitz, and then myself, and Freddy, whatever order. It doesn’t matter as long as we get to stay together.”
Johnson’s current contract, much like Fitzpatrick’s is up after this season. Jackson’s expires after the 2012 season.
