Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has a long term deal after signing on the dotted line late Friday, but Fitz and Bills GM Buddy Nix explain how the quarterback and the club got to signing day.
“The discussions started a few months ago,” Fitzpatrick told Buffalobills.com in a one-on-one interview. “It wasn’t anything serious, but just got them started and they kind of went back and forth a little bit.
“I think the bye week really heated things up just in terms of trying to get something done around that time. Really we pushed it to the last possible moment we could do it before this game. But I was glad my agents did a good job, the Bills did a good job and hopefully it’s a good deal for everybody.”
Bills GM Buddy Nix, did admit that things heated up after the Giants game in Week 6.
“We wanted to get it done and finally we just said look we need to get this done during the bye week and we barely made it, but we did,” he said.
