Seeing Ryan Fitzpatrick get his long term extension has Stevie Johnson hopeful that he’s also considered for a long term deal to keep the third-highest scoring offense in the league together for the foreseeable future.
Talking with Buffalobills.com by phone Friday, Johnson understands it’s a business, but believes the Bills have a good thing going on offense and wants to remain a part of it.
“We were in the same boat, me and 14, so you’re extra excited for him,” Johnson told Buffalobills.com. “Knowing that you’re in the same situation you hope that maybe you’ll be next. It’s still all up to the team for who is going to be next. That’s what we’ve got to do, keep playing these games and play it out and see what happens.”
Even though his teammate Fred Jackson doesn’t have a contract expiring until 2012, Johnson believes Jackson could merit strong consideration as well.
“With how Fred is playing you would think the team would be interested in getting 22 locked up also,” Johnson said. “He’s our horse.”
