DAILY REPORT – The Buffalo Bills announced yesterday that LB Shawne Merriman has been placed on injured reserve. The Bills announced today that the team has signed LB Antonio Coleman. Coleman joins the Bills from the New York Giants’ practice squad. The 6-1, 254-pound Auburn product entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with [...]
Coleman will help
The signing of Antonio Coleman should help at outside linebacker. Coleman got off to a slow start in training camp this summer, but really came on in the last two preseason games as the battle between him and Robert Eddins got really intense for a final roster spot. There’s clearly still some potential to be [...]
OLBs come back from Achilles
Shawne Merriman announced in a statement that he’s going to undergo surgery on his Achilles to prevent a seemingly inevitable rupture, knowing the chronic problems the tendon has given him the past two years. While the surgery is anything but minor, outside linebackers have not only returned to resume their NFL careers, they’ve excelled. The [...]
OLB replacement candidate
With Shawne Merriman on injured reserve there’s a viable candidate with knowledge of Buffalo’s defensive system currently available. Former undrafted free agent signing Antonio Coleman is available to be signed to the Bills active roster. After being one of Buffalo’s final cuts this past summer, Coleman hooked on with the New York Giants where he’s [...]
Moats likely OLB full time
With Shawne Merriman going on injured reserve Tuesday, it’s a good bet that Arthur Moats will be remaining at outside linebacker the rest of the season. Losing Merriman for the season leaves the Bills dangerously thin at outside linebacker with Danny Batten, Chris Kelsay and Moats as the only true outside linebackers. Spencer Johnson has [...]
BDC 10/25: B Scott debuts single
DAILY REPORT – Buffalo Bills announced yesterday that the team has signed DT Jay Ross to the Practice Squad. Ross was released by Green Bay prior to the regular season after joining the Packers’ Practice Squad on October 20, 2010. Bills won’t always take touchback
As we featured on the home page of Buffalobills.com the new kickoff rule has robbed Brad Smith on return opportunities because opponents are just booting the ball through the back of the end zone or nine yards deep forcing Smith to take a knee. But Bills special teams coordinator Bruce DeHaven says they won’t necessarily [...]
Grossman in hospital
According to the Washington Post, Redskins backup QB Rex Grossman is spending a second day in the hospital today. Grossman, who was hooked up to an IV in the Washington locker room while John Beck ran the offense came down with pneumonia and under doctor’s orders was hospitalized Monday. They expect Grossman to recover from [...]
Limited progress for Merriman
Bills LB Shawne Merriman had said he was confident he’d be ready for Week 8 against Washington, but coming out of the bye week Merriman was not able to practice Monday. Report: Skins Moss out 3 wks
The reports continue regarding the fractured hand sustained by Redskins WR Santana Moss. According to ProFootballTalk, Moss will miss three weeks and undergo surgery for his broken hand suffered in the Washington loss to Carolina Sunday. Bills LG Andy Levitre is back out at left tackle today. Levitre would be the team’s starting left tackle Sunday if Demetrius Bell cannot return from a shoulder injury. Bell is not practicing today and Chris Hairston is out 2-4 weeks with an ankle injury.
Merriman not practicing
Bills LB Shawne Merriman said he was confident he’d be ready for this week’s game against Washington, but he’s not participating here on Monday. Over the past few weeks Merriman has often been given Wednesdays off, so today’s practice off the bye week may be exactly that. We’ll get more from Coach Gailey after practice.
Skins are beat up
The Bills needed a bye week to heal up and even with it won’t be completely healthy heading into Sunday’s game with Washington in Toronto. Neither will the Redskins after their loss Sunday to Carolina. Washington has reportedly lost WR Santana Moss for 3-4 weeks with a fractured hand suffered in Sunday’s game. Starting RB [...]

Spiller’s WR role evolving
With C.J. Spiller’s role at wideout continuing this week and possibly beyond, the bye week afforded the coaching staff to possibly come up with some additional plays for the speedy back turned receiver. “Because we had a bye we’ll have a little more time and he’ll have more time to think about things and how [...]
Shep excited about increased role
Bills rookie LB Kelvin Sheppard is excited about his increased role in Buffalo’s front seven. Head coach Chan Gailey confirmed earlier in the week that while he might not be starting he’d see the majority of the work at the inside linebacker spot next to Nick Barnett. “That’s what I came here for to make [...]
Defense needs a tweak
Head coach Chan Gailey has said you don’t want to go crazy changing things with your team during the bye week. That’s why they’re just looking to tweak some things on the defensive side of the ball, not start an overhaul. “I think we just need to keep fine tuning the things that we’re not [...]
