On the heels of the loss to the Jets, Stevie Johnson felt the problem was players were trying to cut things too fine. They tried to be too perfect and their execution tailed off. It happened again against Dallas, prompting Ryan Fitzpatrick to agree with Johnson. Playing loose is the way the Bills offense functions best.
“One of the biggest things coming into the year is nobody expected anything out of us and all a sudden we got on a winning streak there,” Fitzpatrick said. “We won some games and then the expectations came. Now nobody expects anything out of us again. The way we’ve played there’s not much expectation out there.
“We’ve got to play loose. We’ve got no pressure on us. I don’t know if it was something where we were just grinding and trying to fill a role that we weren’t, but we’ve got to go out there and lay loose like Stevie said. That starts with going out at practice and having fun and going out there and putting the work in.”
