Bills 3rd down ‘D’ improving
Posted by Chris Brown on December 26, 2011 – 11:40 amThe Bills don’t have the wins, and in many cases a low points allowed average to show for it, but their third down defense has been noticeably improved of late.
On Saturday Buffalo’s defense had their best third down defense of the season, holding Denver to just 2-of-13 conversions (15%) almost 25 percent better than their current season average.
George Edwards’ unit has now posted three of their five best single-game third down defensive efforts in December against the Titans (2-11, 18.2%) and Miami (3-13, 23%).
A month ago Buffalo was ranked 29th in the league in third down defense (42.9%) and after these three recent performances they’ve improved to 20th in the league (39%). Making that kind of jump late in the season is difficult to pull off.
