Stevie hopes deal done in “week or so”

Stevie Johnson spoke at halftime of the Kentucky-Vanderbilt game in Lexington Saturday afternoon and sounded optimistic about a deal getting done allowing him to re-sign with the Bills.

“Progress was made,” Johnson told FOXSports.com of the meetings in Indianapolis conversations. “Hopefully, everything comes together within a week or so.”

That timetable would have a deal completed prior to March 13th when free agency opens. Johnson re-stated that his preference is to remain a Bill.

“I don’t want to leave,” Johnson said. “I want to finish what we started. Hopefully things come together and we connect on this contract. It’s just about where I began in the NFL. I want to end there. It’s a tough road; we haven’t been to the playoffs in a long time and I want to be a part of it when it happens.”

“It is my preference to stay in Buffalo. It’s just about where I began in the NFL. I want to end there. It’s a tough road; we haven’t been to the playoffs in a long time and I want to be a part of it when it happens.”

Reports indicated that the Bills and Johnson’s reps were going to meet for a second day in Indy on Saturday at the NFL Combine
