Missouri kicks off the pro day schedule today with a couple of notable prospects.
It will be interesting to see if TE Michael Egnew, the Tigers’ highest-rated prospect does anything beyond TE position drills after posting a solid workout at the NFL Combine last week. Egnew posted a 4.62 40 at 6’5″ 252 pounds, had a 41-inch vertical, a 10’11” broad jump, a 7.03 time on the 3-cone drill and got 21 reps on the bench. He’s seen as a 3rd or 4th round pick.
The other notable prospects are DE Jacquies Smith, who has been forecast as a 5th or 6th-round pick and two sleeper WRs. Jerrell Jackson, who doesn’t have elite speed, does has short area burst (see: 41-inch vertical, 10’7″ broad jump, 4.11 short shuttle) and a knack for getting behind corners. He was at the Combine and performed well.
Super sleeper WR Wes Kemp is huge at 6’4″ 230 and eyes will be watching closely for his 40 time, which has reportedly been in the high 4.4s. That would help him a lot at that size, especially since his production was limited to 27 catches this past season despite being in a passing offense.
