King: Bills D-line best in East

SI.com’s NFL columnist Peter King shares the opinion that we presented on Buffalobills.com late last week, that with the most recent free agent additions the Bills have the best defensive line in the AFC East.

King listed 10 of the free agent moves thus far that he liked the most. The Bills most recent signing of DE Mark Anderson was number four on his list. Here’s what King wrote…

DE Mark Anderson from New England to Buffalo. The Bills’ defensive line has a tremendously improved look right now. Keep in mind new defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt will switch to a 4-3. He’ll have Mario Williams at left end and Anderson and Chris Kelsay (and maybe a draft choice) playing the right side, with Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus and Torell Troup in the middle. That’s the best line in the AFC East.

What’s even more interesting is King did not even count Shawne Merriman into the equation. Yes, Merriman is still recovering from Achilles surgery, but it’s not the year long recovery period for a ruptured achilles. Merriman’s achilles was only frayed, so it was detached by doctors, repaired and then re-attached at the base of the heel (much like Kyle Williams surgery). If Merriman is a factor in this lineup even in a rotational role, look out.
