South Carolina’s Stephon Gilmore, who is making a pre-draft visit at 1 Bills Drive today (Tuesday), wasn’t seen as a first-round pick by some of the draft analysts just over a month ago, but that’s changed now.
With North Alabama’s Janoris Jenkins troubled off the field resume and Alabama’s Dre Kirkpatrick forcing teams to do a little extra leg work, some NFL clubs are viewing Gilmore as a safer and just as talented option.
“He is a veteran, started from the time he got there,” said Kiper of Gilmore. “He’s aggressive and physical, will tackle and throw his body around. A little stiff, not as fluid as some of the other corners, but I think he’s certainly battling Dre Kirkpatrick to see who is going to be that second corner off the board. Gilmore is putting some heat on him. I have Gilmore going 23 to Detroit and Kirkpatrick 17 to Cincinnati and that could easily flip.”
