With a handful of players entering the final year of their contracts in 2012, Bills GM Buddy Nix says with the NFL draft in the rearview mirror, they are the next order of business.
Appearing on WGR Sportsradio 550 Monday, Nix was asked specifically about Jairus Byrd, Fred Jackson and Andy Levitre, who are all entering the final year of their deals.
“We believe in starting early on these guys and that’s what we’ll do,” Nix said. We’ll be in contact and have some dialogue. We’d like to get these guys done. I don’t like for them to come down to what happened with Stevie Johnson. I don’t like to come down to three or four days before they hit the market.”
Among the other notable players entering the last year of their contracts that could be unrestricted free agents in 2013 are Spencer Johnson, Corey McIntyre, Leodis McKelvin, Shawne Merriman, Brian Moorman, Bryan Scott, Chad Rinehart and Kraig Urbik.
