Even though Vince Young was signed as a free agent, Ryan Fitzpatrick has been told he’s the starting quarterback. While those outside the organization wonder how tenuous the situation could get, Fitz is as self-assured as ever about his role as a starter and offensive leader.
Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Fitzpatrick explained why he’s so confident he’ll excel in the starter’s role this year.
“I know I have to go out and perform regardless of who is the number two, regardless of who else is on the team,” he said. “But the big thing for me is I’ve got the support and confidence of Chan [Gailey], the head coach, and of all my teammates. And for me that’s the biggest thing, having the respect in that locker room and knowing that I’m the guy and they’ve got a lot of confidence in me to be the guy for years to come.”
