The 2011 season for the Houston Texans defense was a wildly successful one, even though they experienced their share of injuries, which included Mario Williams in Week 5 last fall. But Williams said the biggest difference in their play as a unit was the attitude each player brought with them to work every day as well as the coaching staff. He wants to make sure his new teammates understand how important that is.
“We have a boat load of talent,” said Williams. “At the end of the day I think the biggest thing that I want to get across is just the mentality coming from the defense from last year that is what it was about. The coaches we had there with their scheme and philosophy on how they do things and having an understanding on the field is what it is all about. Once you get that understanding and respect you just have to keep rolling with it.”
Houston last season was second in the league in total defense, fourth in run defense, third in pass defense and fourth in points allowed.
