Baylor WR Josh Gordon, who is holding his pro day Tuesday (today) in Houston in anticipation of the NFL Supplemental draft on Thursday, will have some Bills scouts in attendance watching him.
Buffalobills.com has confirmed that the Bills will be in attendance with scout Theo Young scheduled to attend. Young is a former Baylor coach, who was on the Bears staff when Gordon last played for Baylor in 2010. Young was the team’s defensive line coach. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bills College Scouting Director Chuck Cook or Assistant GM Doug Whaley were in attendance as well.
According to ESPN AFC East blogger James Walker, the Bills will be one of several teams in attendance at the pro day. Gordon has an intriguing physical skill set at 6’3″ 225 pounds. He’s expected to run in the low 4.4s.
Those are numbers that mirror those of Marcus Easley, both height, weight and 40 time, if Gordon can pull it off. The Bills do not have a defined answer at the outside receiver position opposite Stevie Johnson, though they have numerous candidates entering camp (Easley, Graham, Hagan, Jones) where one of the more heated competitions will ensue.
It’s forecast that one NFL club will sacrifice anywhere from a 2nd to a 4th round draft choice for Gordon on Thursday. Knowing Easley, who has a very similar skill set to Gordon went in round 4 I can’t see the Bills investing anything higher than a fourth round pick, and I believe that might even be a stretch.
