Wood sees scaled back workload

On Monday Eric Wood was already at One Bills Drive asking the athletic training staff what the plan was for how extensive his workload would be at training camp. He wasn’t thrilled with the answer he got back, but is abiding by their wishes.

“I’m pretty comfortable with (my body). I’ve done all I can to get to this point. I’ll be out on the field. I don’t know that I’ll be doing everything, from day one. I’m constantly being reminded that Sept 9th is the goal. So we’re going to take it slow, but I’m ready to get out on the field.”

How restless he is.

“I’m excited. To get to this point feels good. There’s a lot of excitement around the team and I just want to be a part of it. I don’t want to watch from the sideline. I’m sure I’ll be doing some of that, but I’m definitely anxious to get going.”

Surprised if time off

“They said slow and steady,” said Wood. “I don’t know what that means, but hopefully I’ll get some clarity in the next day or so. Like I have all along I’m just going to trust and do why they tell me to do. I’m not sure exactly what that will be. But when I’m out there and whatever I’m doing I’m going to be doing it 100 percent.”

Wood was very happy with how he came through his last major long term rehab after his compound leg fracture suffered in his rookie season. He feels he’s much further ahead in this current rehab from a torn ACL last season in Week 10 than he did from the leg break in 2009. He just knows that there are going to be days where he’s going to forced to sit and watch.

“I’ve done all I can to get to this point,” he said. “I’ll be out on the field. I don’t know that I’ll be doing everything, from day one. I’m constantly being reminded that Sept 9th is the goal. So we’re going to take it slow, but I’m ready to get out on the field. There’s a lot of excitement around the team and I just want to be a part of it. I don’t want to watch from the sideline.”
