Although Stevie Johnson looked pretty strong and tough to cover in his first training camp practice, he’s still working on getting his conditioning into peak form after being severely limited in the spring.
“I don’t think the groin is an issue (anymore),” said head coach Chan Gailey of Johnson’s season-long injury last year. “Probably conditioning is his biggest issue right now. He was doing some extra work out there after practice to upgrade his conditioning level. But I thought he looked quick and caught the football and made some good plays.”
“With my body I can work out all year and then take off for the weekend and come back out of shape,” said Johnson jokingly. “With a whole week of running (routes) I’ll be back at it. Today it was cool I got into it. I just need to get another two gears and I’ll be right back at where I was.”
