With the slow and methodical approach the Bills are taking with Eric Wood coming off offseason ACL surgery, the team’s starting center is not expected to play in the team’s first preseason game Thursday against Washington.
Bills head coach Chan Gailey told Bills Digest that it’s likely Wood won’t see preseason game action until the team’s third preseason game against Pittsburgh on Aug. 25th.
“I think we know what he can do there,” said Gailey of Wood. “Our whole concern is his health, not how many reps he gets with the ones leading up to our first or second preseason game. You’d like to have him out there for the third one for us to get a feel for him with the starters.”
Wood has been on board with the club’s approach to his rehab after coming back so successfully from a compound leg fracture two years ago. Thursday’s preseason opener kicks off at Ralph Wilson Stadium at 7 pm.
