Bills head coach Chan Gailey said long before final cuts were made that there were going to be some good players trimmed from Buffalo’s roster that would play elsewhere. DT Kellen Heard was the latest example.
Heard signed with the Rams. St. Louis needs DT help after their top pick Michael Brockers went down with a high ankle sprain. He also benefited from the fact that his former defensive line coach in Oakland is the current defensive line coach in St. Louis in Mike Waufle.
Despite being cut loose by the Bills, Heard was grateful for the time he got to play in Buffalo.
“I knew it was a normal numbers game,” Heard told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.. “It was nothing against Buffalo. They gave me a great opportunity and I love the organization for that.”
