Fred Jackson and Chan Gailey are both optimistic about the back returning to the lineup Sunday for the big division game against the Patriots. Obviously the magnitude of the game has something to do with it, but so does Jackson’s productive history against New England.
Though the team is just 1-7 in the eight career games Jackson has played against the Patriots, his individual production has been pretty solid overall. In those eight games Jackson has rushed 93 times for 465 yards (5.0 yards per carry avg.). Thirteen of those 93 carries have gone for 10 yards or more (14%).
He’s also had 21 catches for 233 yards (11.1 avg.) with a big outing in the season finale last year (won by New England) making five catches for 87 yards.
Jackson has a touchdown rushing and receiving in those eight games.
