Thigpen’s duties vs. Pats

As expected backup QB Tyler Thigpen will handle holding duties this week for place kicker Rian Lindell.

Thigpen will hold for Lindell after working with him all week in practice on placements. Lindell likes the ball tilted slightly forward on field goal attempts, but he was confident Thigpen would be able to get it down this week.

That leaves new punter Shawn Powell only with punting duties today against the Patriots, though Chan Gailey said in time that Powell would be the full-time holder on field goal attempts.
