Much has been made of San Francisco’s powerful offensive line. They help pave the way for the 49ers’ backs and often reset the line of scrimmage two or three yards up the field with their consistent push off the ball. Below is one of the more extreme examples from last week’s game when LT Joe Staley and LG Mike Iupati pancaked The Jets’ 6’4” 346-pound NT Kenrick Ellis eight yards downfield. Head coach Chan Gailey certainly has respect for what San Fran can do at the point of attack.
“Their offensive line is so strong. They are a big, strong, physical offensive line. They come off together. They do a great job with their blocking schemes,” head coach Chan Gailey told Buffalobills.com in his weekly interview that airs Saturday. There are so many shifts and motions and personnel groupings to try to keep you off balance, but they still try to pound the ball and if you don’t play assignment football and everybody gets in their gap and attacks where they’re supposed to attack, they’ll hit some creases on you.”
