Bills RG Chad Rinehart, who is slated to start in place of the injured Kraig Urbik on Sunday is not a lock to play against San Francisco, but it sounds like he’ll start.
“Rinehart didn’t practice,” said head coach Chan Gailey. “He’s got a calf (injury) that he did in practice yesterday. We rested him today just to kind of make sure we’ve got him on Sunday. We think he’ll be fine on Sunday.”
Gailey said the decision to hold Rinehart out of practice Friday was more precautionary than necessary.
Rinehart after watching practice was asked on his way to the locker room how he’s doing.
“Good to go,” said Rinehart.
He’s officially listed on the injury report as questionable. If he cannot go Sunday or his calf does not hold up for the whole game his replacement Sunday would be Colin Brown, who took all the reps at right guard in practice Friday.
“It was good to get those reps,” Brown told Buffalobills.com after practice. “I hadn’t taken many with Erik (Pears) in a while. So today was helpful.”
Brown is both the backup guard and backup center for Sunday’s game should injury strike.
